I joined a nu-metal band 3 months ago and we're doing a bunch of stuff in B tuning and i didn't have a 5 string. I didn't know if the project was gonna "have legs" so I didn't want to dump a bunch of cash on a bass that I woudn't need if it fell through.
I jumped on craigslist and picked up a cheap Ibanez SG 5 string for $150. Well, the band is progressing nicely, so I wanted to upgrade, but wanted to stay in the $3-400.00 range. I cheched out some lower end Spectors, a few high end Ibanez's and out of the 6 I played the Schecter Omen had the nicest finish, the best action and the sound I was looking for. (played through an Ampeg 4x10 cab and svt-4 head), nice archtop body with a black cherry quilted top. Price out the door with a hardshell case, a set of schaller strap locks and a 26ft Hosa cable....$410.00 Win!

My Schecter 5-string might be the nicest sounding bass I own. I was pleasantly surprised!
