Rack?
Do any guitarists here use any rackmount stuff? What do you use? For all I've done musically this is an area I've never explored.
I was thinking of getting a new EQ and have been considering a rackmount unit just because a decent single channel rack EQ isn't much more expensive than a good stomp box EQ.
Suggestions? Thoughts?

to be honest, no. but i havent been playing for 30 years to notice it. there is a difference, but I think that a compressor should really be a last-in-line purchase. The Doctor wrote:Does a rackmount compressor do a lot for your sound? I normally apply compression to all my recorded instruments in my DAW...

If I make enough material that I am satisfied with I'd play live, but I'm not sure if I'll ever do that again. I'm finding I'm my own worst critic since I've been working alone.
I just want a good tuner with a fast response. The one I have now is really slow and has a hard time reading lower registers.

haha yea i know how that can be. just gotta remember it only makes for the best music when you set the standard so high. One of my side-projects is pelican-y but with some converge-y vocals and riffs, and we're in the process of doing a split with a pretty solid french band. Let me know if you get some shit up and running, maybe we can do a collabo. i think i meant to write this in the emg thread.

I just have to find a good middle ground between the Electronic stuff and the Metal side of my style.

I have a Korg tuner in my rack and it's pretty nice, and I use it for bass and it tracks fast and accurate.

Same one I have, when I'm playing live it's very easy to see from a distance and reference tune mid song.Pfl?yd wrote:I just have a plain ol' DTR1. Having a tuner is almost superfluous though, my basses, especially my J, never go out of tune. Even when I'm slapping the shit out of them.PABassPlayer wrote:Same one I have, when I'm playing live it's very easy to see from a distance and reference tune mid song.Pfl?yd wrote:I just have a plain ol' DTR1. Mine don't either, but it's nice going to drop D on a noisy stage or just a reference at a glance when your guitar player is out of tune so you can look at him and say "it's not me"!Pfl?yd wrote:Having a tuner is almost superfluous though, my basses, especially my J, never go out of tune.
