The person who wrote that is a retard because they mean a triplet and not a triad.
In standard notation, triplets are typically tied together in a similar fashion as the example you showed us, with a 3 in the tie; signifying that it's a triplet.

I saw As I Lay Dying last night, and the crowd was fucking weak! I saw damageplan at the same place 2 years ago and it was WAY crazier. I had to fight to stay in front but for AILD I just stood there.
