And yes I'm pretty aware that I said I don't want to have that geek skills, because 1: I don't need them
and 2: they are only impressive and I couldn't put them in music, which results in number 1 again

Being able to play like this would make you better at layering riffs together. So it could be put to use with metal. Anything you learn will make you better at your own style.
