Who here plays piano?

just picked up a Yamaha keyboard the other day and i'm trying to start learning how to play. So far i've done the obvious cliches like began learning the Peanuts themesong and Mad World. anyone have any interesting beginner songs to start off with? any good websites for beginners? i know theory and scales enough from 10 years of guitar but just playing mechanics and good technique pointers would be helpful

most importantly, what keys do you rest your fingers on? what keys/notes make the most sense ergonomically in "standard" hand technique? i don't want to acquire any bad habits by just doing everything myself as i slowly work my way up to being a virtuoso

If I recall, the thumb rests on Middle C and the fingers correspond with the following (or preceding) notes on the white keys.

But I never learned to play the "proper" way, so I could be talking out of my ass.
