after recording it something like 15 times this was the best I could get, my wrist kept on giving out during the slap/pop part at the very end. I can play it sitting down but it'll have to be played standing up eventually. I'm still writing more to go with it, but let me know what you think aside from the major fuck up in it.

You need a drum track behind you just so we can get a sense of perspective.
I bet you could pleasure some girls with those speedy fingers.

I've been trying to figure out garage band so I could at least have drum and bass so guitarists could get an idea of what the hell they could do behind the bass (not in front of it). Garage Band is one of the hardest things I've tried to fuck with, I damn near had a brain aneurysm trying to figure it out, any tips on fiddling with it, floyd?

I haven't really used GarageBand other than to make generic songs to play drums with. I use Logic. Are you familiar with piano roll functions at all? Or do you have a MIDI controller?hektik wrote:I've been trying to figure out garage band so I could at least have drum and bass so guitarists could get an idea of what the hell they could do behind the bass (not in front of it). Dude I don't know what's on this computer. All I know is I got garage band and I need a password to download the smallest most insignificant programPfl?yd wrote:I haven't really used GarageBand other than to make generic songs to play drums with. Well GarageBand's virtual instruments will be programmed either with a MIDI controller (a keyboard is the most common type) or by dragging and dropping into a piano roll, which looks like a sideways piano keyboard on the screen and the rest of the space representing time in the sequencer. If you're unfamiliar with any of that, I'd suggesting picking up a book or a tutorial of some sort because it's pretty hard to explain online.hektik wrote:Dude I don't know what's on this computer. yeah i was trying to figure it out last night, i have the basic understanding, each key pretty much has a track and you gotta layer them pretty much, but the box they give you on garage band is so fucking small you can't do anything with it.

That's cool. I could make up a million excuses as to why I was playing so sloppy, bottom line is I finally changed my strings and had to finger my baby for the first time in weeks.
I'm gonna re record the first video again tomorrow and hopefully nail it.

... You're killing me, Smalls.
I don't really go out of my way to play anything that would make people go "Holy fucking shit!", more of "hey, that sounds pretty cool." I outgrew being chopsy a long time ago; probably around the time I started writing music for other instruments and kind of think of the bass after the fact. In fact, I probably spend three times more time practicing drums or writing music with keyboards than I ever spend playing a bass outside of a formal rehearsal.Hunter/Killer wrote:pfloyd must be awesome at bass, do you have any vids laying down some chops?

I cleaned up the slap riff a little bit, it's still not perfect though. I added a small intro and fucked with the last riff, and added one more. I think it sounds pretty good

i play in D standard all the time
and PA, I notice that too now that I watch it, I think it's the 'pressure' of recording and getting everything right in one shot that speeds up and slows down the tempo of everything, when I play it with nothing on, I swear it's all in time

I was in a couple here and there, nothing too serious. I was asked to leave more than a couple bands because the guitarists couldn't write with my basslines...people say they're into Atheist but obviously aren't if they can't play dynamically.
I'm looking for a band right now, more thrashing death though...I'd love to use half the scrap metal I am sitting on right now but I think I'll have to complete all my songs myself and find people to play them.
