Why is it some strings are better suited to pinch harmonics than other strings?
I typically use ernie ball super slinky's.
I can hit pinch harmonics with them, but sometimes it's flaky, and not nearly as bright sounding as the elixir's.
However then I use the elixir 9's with the nanoweb I hit pinch harmonics like nobody's business.
And I am sure my technique, as shitty as it is doesnt change.
Probably because the elixirs are covered in that slippery shit. Also, they're really bright for ages so maybe that's why - harmonics never sound as good on dirty old strings.

Well the reason why I even brought this up is because I had some old ass elixir strings on there then went back to my ernie balls and these are very new but dont pinch harmonic worth a shit really.

yea its the coating. most companies say that it makes it last longer and my brother whos a bass player lives by coated strings. i think the company that makes sunbeams had an article about it, i'll see if i can find it

Elixirs are hands down the best strings I have ever played.
And DR strings are hands down the lamest. Sorry, PA.

have you ever tried sunbeams?
I tried two different kinds. Both went dull on me fast. I like bright and zingy, not thuddy and boomy.

I've never even heard of em. They pretty good?
they make a lot of my shitty guitars sound great so yea i dont think they make electric strings, ive only heard of bass and acoustic ones. definitely worth a shot though

It all matters on the metals that form your string, and i could see how coatings would affect pinch harmonics.
I switched to ghs over e.b's at the beginning of the year, can't complain about the tone or breakage rate at all. I'm also supporting a buisiness from my state.
I'll tell you what though, i don't care how broke you are and how bad you need strings. Don't ever use rouge strings, im not even talking tone. But i replaced an a string once with a rogue string and it ate my frets faster than taylor rain will gobble your shaft and make you rip.

I do nothing but play and gig and I use them exclusively. They hold their sound a lot longer, even through rigorous gigging schedules, which is the main reason to use them.
