As a bass player I don't think I should be responsible for supplying the PA, I did it before, but now it's just a pain in the ass finding someplace to store it. My playing ability should be my commodity.DBS wrote:what happens if this band doesnt work out? surely you're more of a commodity with a p.a if you want to join a band in future?

I get it if storing is a pain in the ass, but think twice about selling ALL your stuff mang! Just sell half of it for twice the price, plenty of suckers out there
False, the vocalist should provide the PA if they are the ones who primarily use it. I'm sick of vocalists showing up at the last minute to a gig, plugging in a mic and calling it good. Put those fuckers to work!cottonmouth wrote:PABassPlayer wrote:As a bass player I don't think I should be responsible for supplying the PA, My playing ability should be my commodity.A drummer wrote:As a drummer I don't think I should be responsible for supplying the PA, My playing ability should be my commodity.etc.Vocalist wrote:As a singer I don't think I should be responsible for supplying the PA, My singing ability should be my commodity.

He does have a good point, but I would have to buy a van or a trailer, and I don't think I could do sound for a band and not play, it would drive me insane.

Do sound for a bunch of bands. And when you hear how much they suck, maybe you won't be that crazy about wanting to play with them. At least they'll have good sound though (granted you know how to stage good sound).
Who says you don't have to be in a band? Play in a band and do the sound thing too. Why not?

Yeah, I've done it occasionally. It's a much more consistent way to make money because you get paid before anyone else.Kellan wrote:be like a freelance sound guy or whatever you'd call that. That endeavor yields a lot more money than selling this gear for 3k will, over time.
