Wacken 2008
I'm going to buy my ticket and book my flight sometime this week. I'll figure the rest out later. Long4 is probably coming too

As long as that means an actual tent and alcoholic drinks, thenDBS wrote:this is going to rule! why hasn't long4 been here for so long bmf? you are welcome to drinks in my pitched tent!
How do you guys meet up? Would we be able to keep our shit in your tent while we rock out? I've got a lot to figure out...
And long4 is a cop and doesn't want anything he posted to ever come back to haunt him or something. He just wants to cover his bases even though he's doing it like he's in the CIA or something...

1. I'm not sure, the ticket was close to 180 american dollars, the flight is around 1200, the hostels I've found are like $15 per night, and of course there's spending money.Brandon wrote:im asking my brother if he wants to go.
matt please! questions:
1. how much money you plan on spending, itemize the amount too
2. how much does a passport cost and how soon can you get it
3. how are you planning this trip? maybe wacken has a forum where americans can talk about this.
2. I think I paid a $90-120ish for my passport, and received it in about two months
3. I haven't really planned too much, just got the tickets, and plan on going and rocking; hoping the rest works itself out through here or people I meet.
www.wacken.com has info on transport, buses are the way to go bra

You seem to be worrying too much. Here's some comforting information to calm you down.Brandon wrote:what airport are you taking off from? where will you land? how will you get from your landing destination to wacken? links are cool, but details are even better!
When i went in 03 we flew over. You can get planes (not sure about the US) directly to Hamburg Int Airport. Like any other city there is tube's and buses all over so you can get around the city easily. I recommend that you stay in a hotel located in the Reeperbahn(red light district) called the Hotel Stern www.stern-hamburg.de . We stay there every year. It's close to the Headbangers Ballroom http://www.ballroom-hamburg.de , last year we saw Sadictic Intent there the night after Wacken finished:tup:. And it's always cool to hang out there before the festival. When you are your way to the fest you can easily get a tube to Central Station and the trains run perfectly. It's about a 40 mintue train ride to Itzehoe where you will stop and catch a shuttle bus that runs every 10 minutes all the way to Wacken. Same system on the way back.
I only travelled by plane once. Every year since then we have driven. We get a ferry over to Amsterdamn then drive all the way to Hamburg. Next year we are catching a ferry from Harwich direct to Cuxhaven which is about an hour away from Wacken.
