I can tell you, even though Matamps are awesome, you would be better getting the cabinet from electricamp. That is what I did for my green 4x12 instead of have to worry about the cabinet shipping all the way from England but instead Washington.

I still like bigger wattage amps I guess just that kid in me still says "The bigger the better!". I am going to try out a Bad Cat Hot Cat tomorrow, it's 30 watts but it easily sounds like 50 or more when cranked.

LOTW, if you want to hear a really cool fuzz/octave on guitar, check out the band Cactus and their cover of the song 'Evil' the solo features the best use of fuzz octave (an old Ampeg scrambler).

I just find these arguments amusing; we've heard the aforementioned Les Paul/Marshall stack sound for decades and no one really goes on record saying "Hey, don't you think this has been overused a bit" but someone throws a flanger in there on a couple songs and it's "oh my god, quit ...

Scott 'Wino' Weinrich of The Obsessed/Spirit Caravan/The Hidden Hand has a ridiculous amp and pedal setup. Two Sunn Model T's running through an Orange and Marshall cab and then a Leslie. Here's his pedal board. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c94/666bigbang/TheHiddenHandRavariRoom2-11-07018.jpg h...

I don't know, Leslie West when he plays old Mountain tunes uses a bunch of flanger and delay.

Subtleness of effects is more cool though. For instance, 'The Boys Are Back In Town' you can hear a phaser being used by Scott Gorham.

Bad Cat amps

Anyone own one or mess around with one? I have been intrigue since some of my favorite bands have been using them (Qotsa, Barroness), Baroness was using their Hot Cat 30 watt combo and that was LOUD, louder than most 50 to 100 watt tube amps I have heard. They also sound like the amps that if your p...

Just get some Gotoh locking tuners, they have a better chance of fitting into your Ibanez headstock. The problem with Sperzels is you will have to drill new holes for the tuning keys which makes it too much work imo.

Good job, around where I live now every thing like that and vintage instruments/ vintage or hand-wired amps are 1500 minimum. Sometimes you will get lucky and find something for 1200 but it is in bad shape.

Yeah I'm the same way. I get bored way too easily with one instrument, and one sound, so the best approach for me to keep evolving is coming up with as many different textures and approaches as possible, and the Vox is a big partner in that, allowing me lots of exploration. Keep on explorin brotha....

Oh yeah, I always believed if you truely want to have a heavier sound, part of it is picking harder. Even though I love vintage Marshall and Fender amps and when I get older I will probably be playing clones of them through a hollowbody and tele. For now, I kind of like versatility because I love th...

Can somone point in the right direction of time signatures

Besides a music teacher, can someone teach me a better understanding of it. Yeah I get the 4/4 and 3/4 but I guess it gets kind of confusing for me after that.

That's true. With my Mesa (50 caliber plus), I hardly ever use the distortion channel because the clean channel to me is where it shines through for some reason instead of the distortion channel.
