Re: My current corral of basses
can you make a strong contrast between the P and Jazz basses? I'm thinking of getting a Jazz simply because some of my favorable bassists have used them on some of my favorite bass albums but i know the P's tend to be more common. i'm not that knowledged on bass besides knowing how to play one, and...

Geddy Lee has great tone what does he use If you listen to his sound throughout the years, his tone had a lot to do with what bass he was playing. Early on he had a signature Rickenbacker sound, then later a unique Wal bass sound, and in recent years a tell-tale Jazz bass sound. As far as amps, he'...

Re: Bass amp...
If you're using a six-string you'll probably want a pretty wide frequency range--a 2x12 neodymium set-up with a lightweight solid-state pre/power amp combo like one of the Shuttle amps would do the trick. Definitely. I'm toying with the idea of doing some solo bass shows, if I am satisfied with the...

It's actually an 8 string bass, like a 12 string with smaller guage strings tuned in octaves. Are those additional strings just guitar strings? Not busting balls, but the GIO series is the "entry level" Ibanez line... They are selling for $179 new and between $60 to $120 used. These are the shit guitars they put in the beginners "jam pack". If it's pristine, anything over $120.00 is rip off. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibane...

Flame maple is just a veneer, not thick enough to affect tone at all. The plunky sound is due to the basswood or mahogany body it is made with. That is true, but a set of strings really did make a difference. I think the ones on it were the original and were dead as hell. It's a mahogany body. I'm ...
