For those who write, what mindset must you be in to write good creative lyrics? For me I need to be tired late at night ridden with anxiety. I don't smoke dope anymore, I'm sure that's a helpful technique.

My emo friend was dating this girl and was obviously in love, then one night at a party with no warning he walked in on her getting anally slammed and I guess puked and ran out (then gave the guy a ride home later in the night.) After he told me this story which i mocked him for he said "well at least i got a couple songs out of it." I haven't written a song since.

i've never sat down and written lyrics but bits and pieces just come to me sometimes

Depends on what I am writing about... but I don't write "lyrics" anymore.


Best way to do it, tired as fuck, to the point of hallucination, then write... revise in the morning when you have wits.
