Does anyone know where to get this movie???anyone ever see it?? worth buying?? how big of a role does phil play? its called :the manson family: it supposed to be the most real representation of what really went on.. and Phil plays the voice of Satan

Philip Anselmo, the primary composer for The Manson Family, is best known as the frontman for the metal band Pantera.

The early 21st century saw Pantera singer Phil Anselmo launch several side projects, including Necrophagia, Disembodied, Christ Inversion, Southern Isolation, Body and Blood and Superjoint Ritual, all heard on The Manson Family soundtrack. The latter group is comprised of guitarists Jim Bower and Kevin Bond, drummer Joseph Fazzio, with none other than Hank Williams III on bass (Anselmo handled both vocal and bass duties for the group's recordings, but opted to concentrate solely on vocals for the group's live shows).
didnt know phil did Bass parts thought it was guitar!?!??

I don't know anything about that particular movie.

But I rented a Manson documentary that was made shortly after the trial.

It's obvious that a few musicians have gotten material from this movie, and I
reccommend checking it out (if you can find it), because it's just plain cool anyways.

On the song "Where I'm Going" from Down II, Phil almost quotes the movie verbatim,
talking about 'giving us back to ourselves' or whatever. The whole song is based on
Manson, who is even mentioned by name in the song.

On a Superjoint Ritual song, I don't remember which, Phil says "We're not hippies,
we're slippys." This is something that Manson told his family, which is documented
in the film.

On one of the songs from White Zombies album, Astrocreep 2000, there is a soundbite
at the begining that goes something like "Stand up and burn an X in your head."
This too is from the movie.

I'm sure if you watched this movie, you'd recognize something familiar from other songs
and probably from a few other musicians.

.....just some FYI...

Not unrealeased. And it's more than just SJR. Phil has written like 50-60 % of the music in the film. And he has the voice of Satan.

hah, i always related that to an ex of mine, during our breakup. just because he mentioned manson doesnt mean the whole songs ABOUT manson. he could just be using him as a metaphor. i always took that line to mean like "you're looking at me fucking crazy because youre all pissed at me" (during a breakup).

like i said, just because he uses the name "manson" in a song doesnt mean the whole things about good ol charlie.

Do you need explosions and CGI or something? The film's artistic, asshole. Learn how to watch movies.

no i don't need that kind of things thanks. I just think the "artistic" is not appropriate for such a cocky movie. but that's my opinion, just as i think mullholland drive should be considered as a piece of shit and not a piece of art.

Well, I don't think the whole song is ABOUT Manson, but I do believe it's based on him.

Take the line in question "Charlie Manson's eyes are looking through you
back to myself"
One of the Manson girls says something very similar to this in the movie that I'm talking
about.
Now obviously this song has "a deeper meaning", and you might even be close
with the 'relationship' idea. Maybe it's about Phil's old lady.

The bass player use to be Mike Haaga, and some of the recording Phil did some bass, in between the switch of Mike to 3, at least thats what I've been told.

If you've ever met Phil in person and gotten the chance to look into his eyes rather then at sun glasses hes got the same glazed deep black eyes Charles has. I'm guessing the song is more of a reference to him and Opal from back in the day...they probably had some deep conversation while they were all junked out or somthing...
