A lot of people on this board swear by them and wouldn't use anything else. I've never played an EMG equipped axe.

Apparently you get something like 3000 hours of playing time per battery or soemthing, so i shouldn't think there's much of a hassle.

yeah 3000 hours from 1 battery, don't even worry about that shit. they have their own preamp and some people say that takes away from the tone and make it sterile. i like them for their distortion but i can't decide what my favorite PU's are

Basically, slayer and metallica play them, if you want to play some metal then you can't go far wrong.

				EMG 81 bridge
EMG 85 neck
Don't fuck this one up. Have a pro install them. People like you/you people shouldn't play with soldering irons.

i have an 85/81. Paid about $60 each for them off ebay.
The sterile sound is definately true. Be sure to listen to some bands that use them before you pick some up, especially their clean sound.
I find the 85 almost too bass heavy. I'm wondering if a 60 would be a better neck pickup.

The story gets even more sad! Most of the Ouija Board models had a crecent moon, and star inlays, mine had skull and crossbones, which I read were early prototypes.....

Oh yeah, the guy who bought it might have to sell it for funds for college,so i might buy it from him incase he wants it back.

Doesn't that shit suck? Ironically enough I bought it at a pawnshop in '98 I think for $900....I guess thats why I found the logic in selling it for $1,000...
the guy who bought it from me on ebay gave me feedback that said "Thanks for selling me a true piece of american rock history!"
My balls sunk to the floor...lol live and learn i guess

Yea EMG Pick-ups are good i suppose, but not the best pick-ups in the world. They'll only be good with certain guitars. Eg, Sticking in a pair of EMG's on a Fender stratocaster aint gunna do fuck all to the sound, because the Fender strat isnt powerful enough, but put them In an Ibanez, Jackson or a Jeff Hanemann signature, then you'll get the best quality sound. Semour Duncan pick-ups howver, go with nearly every guitar. i've seen them in Fender's before, oh and Dimebag used a Double Humbucker Semor Duncan pick-up aswell. so if u want good pick-ups for your guitar, don't just go for EMG's Because u might be disappointed, take a look at others as well, and save yourself the muny. Trust me dudes, i've been there and done it. Laters

i want to throw in an Invader in my Viper. i heard that if you have the gain too high on some amps it sounds like ass. ive also heard that its very muddy. i havent played one but would i need to fuck with anything in my guitar? ie add a batt or other shit.
