Wolves In the Throne Room Confirm Dates For Sept USA Tour

Wolves In The Throne Room have mapped out plans for a U.S. run in the coming months in support of their new album “Celestial Lineage” (due out September 13th via Southern Lord Records.) A number of the shows will feature secret venues which won’t be revealed till a day or two prior to the show via the bands website Wolves In The Throne Room will tour with their own PA system and crew so they won’t be forced to play at traditional venues. Sweet! I'll probably hit up that show in Maine. It says on their website that it's been moved to Portland, though.
And it's w/ Thou. I gotta see that. :aargh:

So I went to see Wolves In The Throne Room tonight. as was said when I posted their tour dates, they were doing the DIY thing on this tour and brought their own equipment to play in DIY spaces (non-bars/clubs as much as possible). the venue here in town has its own stage and pa system but they brought their own lights, sound, crew, and stage decor (multiple banners and a projection screen, plus about 100 candles and some oil lamps). the place was packed to the fucking brim, I think they said they had to cap entry at about 200 persons (this tells you how small the place is).

ANYWAYS, after the two local openers, doom / drone band Megaton Leviathan was to go on stage but couldn't get their equipment to work properly, which was all digital and they apparently had programmed drums which would not work. after fucking around for an hour they gave up and tore down their gear.

About 15 minutes later Wolves hit the stage and tore into an explosive set. they had analog gear so they didn't have any sound problems. they played about 4-5 songs when suddenly there was a small explosion in the ceiling above the crowd that caused the ceiling tiles and a fucking fan to fall onto quite a few people below. the band still played even though the explosion had killed the pa system and what you could hear was coming through the amps. the main vocalist/guitarist was the first to notice and stop playing but his other band mates were so into it that they kept going for a good half a minute. the fan continued to emit sparks as it dangled from the ceiling only a couple of feet above the ground. in as far as I know nobody was hurt but the show did come to an abrupt halt. :aargh:

amazingly people didn't flee the venue but many went straight to the merch table in the back, bought shit and left.
also, I talked to the band members afterwards and they came off as really, really, really down to earth and not pretentious at all. which was nice. they said they felt they should make this show up and said next time they might just rent some generators and find a spot out in the woods or on a farm :jesus:
