It's an 80's model. FWIW, they're much better than the current line they produce but there is no demand for them. Honestly for the price you got it is a steal.

uh, yeah it is!! haha im actually glad to find out its probably not made in usa because no year at the beginning of the serial number, means its worth less so i wont be tempted to sell it. i cant find any of these models online though. the only baby z /hollywood z i can find have dot inlays and arent set neck

It's a 1980something Baby Z, judging by the fact that it has a Kahler. Set neck and Kahler might make it an 84 or 85... but I'm no expert.

It's a 6 digit serial so it's an import, and only someone who works for Dean could tell you what year it is exactly.

I always liked those tapered Dean headstocks, a buddy of mine had a full sized metallic pearl white (w/ black binding) Dean ML with Dimarzios, set neck, and a Kahler about 20 years ago I wish I had bought from him with this style of headstock...that guitar SMOKED...

Im guessing that's either a SD Invader or Detonator - Highest output passive pickup they make SUPER sweet crunch...comparable to EMG 81 by far...not quite sure its in the neck position though... Dimarzio bridge?

edit: uhhh the guitar is pretty much crap.

yeah I actually hate this guitar the action, neck and bridge rule but its.so unbalanced to play even after moving the strap mounts , just stupid. I don't see how zztop played them all those.years. I haven't taken it out of the case in months. I switched the pickups around but.am still not a fan. its loud.but doesn't sound too great, definettly not for downtuning anyway. not sure what to do with it, I might just strip some parts off and trade off the body for some other Shit.

Keep this honkey in mind, but leave the hardware in it, those Kahlers are expensive as hell to replace! you can keep all of the electronics, though...

BTW, ZZ Top had buckle mounts, didn't strap them...
