God I wish I would have learned theory when I was younger

With my first guitar teacher, he tried to really install theory into me but at the time I just wanted to play and rock out, so I ended up quitting lessons. Now, for one of my resolutions, I have started to learn theory and it just makes so much sense now what the rhythm section in my band was talking about. I feel if I had done this back in my teens, I would have been more valuable as a guitar player. I now spend at least ten to fifteens when I practice reviewing theory especially when it comes to rhythm and timing along with keys and scales.

Anyone else have this problem?

i cant understand theory on my own. every now and then i go to a buddy of mine who teaches me little bits of jazz theory here and there, but overall i have no idea what the hell i am doing on my guitar, although i know i know a lot more theory than i think i do.
