I like any musician that "defined" and era of music, the Sex Pistols/Vicious were the definition of punk...
edit: Yes, i did go through a punk phase in my early 20's (circa 1978-80)

Then you should be more a fan of Glen Matlock who was actually
plugged in onstage.
I had a punk "phase" but it was bands like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, The Minutemen, Gang of Four, Big Black and like.

papabass, just outta curiosity, how old are ya? My pops is 50, or 51 and I figured he woulda gone through a punk phase, but he was always into shit like zeppelin, floyd, crue, stuff that was considered hard rock back in the day and despised punk.

Well there only a few applications where that sound is useful to me. But where it is, it's pretty much the only sound that fits.
