They seem about the same to me. Don't have the metal zone anymore So I can't compare Except for the badass glow-in-the-dark decals on the MXR-RiP DiME

What kind of amp did you get?

And just to give you a fair warning, I'm probably going to tell you to burn it after you tell me.

Not bad, better than my crap amp. If you want good distortion, get a 5150.

Well I once owned the MT-2 and it sucked so much fat ass it really wasn't funny. So I flogged it to some poor fucker for a bit more than I payed for it. Sucka.

I've not tried the Dime Distortion yet, but I would like to. Although I get an awesome distortion through my setup so it'd just be for shits and giggles yo.

the MT-2 sounds killer on a solid state practice amp, but don't even think about putting it into a tube amp or any sort of combo
it'll sound like shit

i have the rocktron "zombie" rectified distortion pedal. it's made specifically for tube amps i guess.
with an eq it sounds great i think

bullshit, my MT-2 sounds AWESOME on my buddies 80's model Laney AOR Series 50W all tube head, and it made my 1972 Marshall 100W Superlead a BEAST!

the 5150 is no longer in production as EVH has copy rights to those #'s. therefore the 6505 is replacing it even though it's the same amp

I wouldn't buy a new one, I'd buy the old one. That's my point. Like what Rob used on Through The Ashes Of Empires.

The standard story is that the block letter models are the best sounding. I've played a newer one and it sounded ok to me. Never played an old one so I can't say personally. But every review you read, people trash the newer ones and say they like the old ones better. I've also heard that the clean channel is really shitty on the old ones though. They say it's not even really clean at all. So I don't know. I know for sure though that Rob used the old block logo on TTAOE and the tone on Imperium rules.

yeah the old block letter ones are supposed to be the best. thats what rob used on TTAOE, mixed with a line 6 head.
