Nothing will surprise me after the upside down V. JJ might buy one though, if it's expensive enough.

The only "new" Gibson I'm even remotely interested in is the 7 string Explorer, but that headstock looks like a "God fucking damn it!" waiting to happen...

My guitar player has one...played it once and it sits in the case. Les Paul purists call it an abomination.

I think it's funny to be a "purist" about a type of guitar.

I'll take both...I have two LP Studios, and love them dearly, but I've played the Axess, and I dug the hell out of it...

Speaking of LP Studios... what do you make of this?

I was thinking about getting my hands on something like this...

Perhaps purist was the wrong word, how about "collectors"...is that better?

I'd pass, for about $150 more, that guitar is for sale everywhere ready to play...those worn brown LP Studios new can be had for $600-$800 @ GC brand new, and are readily available...

...unless your into rebuilding it, but damn, the hardware can be EXPENSIVE...

Yeah, it seemed a bit steep to me... figured I'd just throw it out for observation.

I'll change the pickups in whatever I get anyway... either with Seymour Duncan Invaders or an EMG 81/85 set. And I think all the hardware can be bought from stewmac.com for around 100 bucks.

Still though, I'd wind up spending a lot for pickups and hardware. Could come away cheaper buying a Faded Gibson LP, SG, or Explorer on eBay and switching the pickups anyway.

I've played the faded SG: go with the LP, I also find the Explorer far too bassy for my tastes, I like fat tone, but not boomy, where the bridge pickup ends up sounding like the neck p/u, and the neck p/u sounds like an ass that Chover would love, but only the Gibson and Hamer Explorers I've played seem to have those characteristics, otherquality Explorer shapes (like the ESP's, old Ibanez Destroyers, Peavey Rotors, Jackson Kellys, etc) seem to have decent tones... if you do the EMG's, do the 18v conversion...it's worth it...or go with the SD Blackouts for a few more bucks, if you really want to go active...
