I know this is a tired topic, but I was just curious if anyone else here used "open" tunings rather than standard ones. I recently started using Open C Major and it's

i don't know but it would make sense. it's very convenient for bluesy stuff.
i also like fucking about with DADGBD. if you listen to 'song for george' by eric johnson, it's a good example of the fingerpicking stuff i try to emulate.

You might have to get a multi-scale 8 for that...

I used D and Dâ™ for about 6 years. I'd highly recommend Open C Major to anyone who uses D or C though.

You'd probably be cutting your fingers open playing a string gauge needed to accommodate it!

haha yea i've thought about it, but with the right gauge strings and the right neck i'm sure it'll work.

Only 100 more before it actually starts to look cool! You'll be able to sell it to PABass for 1000% profit.

It's an Orpheus Valley Sophia nylon. it was only 850$ and they are factory made, but I got the owner to get one made for me in Bulgaria while the company halted production

i don't know what you call it, but the only goofy tuning I ever fucked with besides drop d, open d, etc was to learn Burden In My Hand.

I don't know why people get all pissy about tunings. Alternate tunings have existed as long as guitars themselves. Mid 90s Alternative Rock and Late 90s/early 2000s "Nu Metal" didn't INVENT every tuning that isn't EADGBE.
People have been playing in Dropped D and Open D since the early 1900s. Open C has been used for quite a long time too...

I only use e standard and d standard currently. after playing for many years ive cum to realize its best for me to pick a tuning for each guitar i have and stick with it. Otherwise i won't set it up properly and next thing you know for some reason i stop picking up my guitar cause i'm too lazy to fuss with it

Open C is the best.
I play in drop A from time to time because I'm too poor to get a 7 string.

open chord tunings are fun to fuck around with if you're lazy about suspended chord changes

And really the best part isn't even the easy chord to play, but all the weird and cool chords you come up with just fucking around with traditional chord fingerings.
