I see your point, it was a tad gimmicky and lame, but at the same time that was the image, a bunch of partiers from texas playing metal and shit, it never bothered me.

Power Metal is a very strong record. No doubt most of the Pbb contingent saw the album cover and dismissed it as saccarine pop-metal without even giving it a spin.Cynosure wrote:BLACKLABELDAVE wrote:Their best album.
Power Metal is a close second.
With regard to the cover- Truth is, even if the cover looks fairly ridiculous by today's standards, their look was not too far removed from that sported by the heavy and thrash metal acts of the days. Bullet belts, denim/leather jackets.
I don't need to say much about the songs, (if you liked CFH, definately check it out) other than that most are in the heavy/speed metal category with one or two bordering on thrash. This record showcases Phil's strongest vocal performance (from a technical standpoint at least) and some of Dime's best leads.
I'd even go so far as to say it's slightly better (in terms of overall quality) than it's similar sounding sucessor, CFH.

The weakest on there for sure. But, in a way still marginally less corny than the title track for CFH.Villecore wrote:The only truly terrible song is Pussy Tight.seriousheavymetaller wrote:Power Metal is a very strong record. Returning to Villecore's original (and very valid point) conceptually, 'Cowboys from Hell' falls somewhat short. No doubt, as songwriters they envisioned an entourage of sublimely terrifying hell-dwelling good old boys, brutally gunning down the inhabitents of a sleepy old western town circa 1890. To these ears, for all the sweeping grandeur of the original premise- executing the idea in the way the did (no doubt unintentionally) made the end product evoke 'Blazing Saddles' far more than it did 'Cowboys From Hell.'
It's in your dirty magazines, all across your TV screeeeennnnsss,
