I've had them before, the 60, 81, 85, and never really liked any of them or saw what the hype was all about.

i've got two sets of them. i have the 81/85 in one guitar, and 81/60 in another. When i got the first pair installed, i thought they were awesome, a huge upgrade over the factory pickups. Then when i got the second pair installed in another guitar, i realized that they pretty much made both guitars sound the same. Its like the guitars lose their own characteristics. From my experience you can throw them in any guitar and they all sound the same. If thats what you want, then its good. If you like your guitars to all sound different, then its not good.

they are o-k. I could play a guitar with a set of em' but i'd be quick to replace them. I don't really like that super high output shit anyways. Gimmie a tonezone and a 59

I hung out at the bar with some EMG's one night and I actually liked them. They were courteous and even bought me a few beers. I actually liked them, but you're right, they do sound just like each other.

I can, I have an older Charvel Model 6 and an early Japanese made Jackson Soloist, both with 81's in the bridge...totally different tones, the Charvel has better mids and less lows, while the Soloist scoops the mids a bit more and cranks up the bass a notch, both treble levels are about the same, though...

I want you to die like James Dean in a fucking Corvette. I like some factory pick-ups. I was really inspired by An Officer And A Gentleman!
