somewhat easy thrash songs to learn

Post by hektik »

i've hit a writing block on both guitar and bass, i think i need to learn some new songs. i recently picked up a guitar and been playing it almost every day but nothing new, just the same shit i've been playing for the past week or so, every thing i go to write sounds like shit or i'm just not satisfied with it. i tried a different tuning and goddamn i'm high as fuck. give me some easy and/or fun songs to learn, preferbly some metal thrashing madness.

Definitely, especially stuff from Reign in Blood and South of Heaven.

Hanger 18, and most of Countdown to Extinction are pretty easy to pull off on guitar, relatively speaking.

Every band I've ever seen cover this song played the bass part in the intro on guitar. Fucking hacks.

Not at all but I think either A) the people covering it don't realize it's a bass part or B) since it's the coolest part of the song, guitards seem to think they should play it instead.

i pick up a lot, is this normal? I can't down pick for some reason...I mean, I can when I'm chugging power chords on the e and a strings, but it feels more natural to pick up. maybe it's because I'm a bass player (don't use a pick fuck you) and i'm used to going up?

Upstrokes are for pussies and weak-elbowed and forearmed junkies. Downpicking ftw.

Downpicking from the wrist makes for some pretty weak thrash technique in my experience. Of course there are a lot of techniques that achieve similar results, but bra, you gotta POUND that shit to do it right :aargh:

I'll do it tomorrow. After I failed in front of the camera like 50 times I kept on playing it and rearranged how the riffs went so now I gotta practice it all over again. Maybe I should do it standing up next time too!

either way I'll be posting some sub par guitar playing very soon.

Get a jazz 3 pick and learn to pick with your wrist.

Any Metallica song is pretty easy
