it's not the cleanliness I have a problem with. it's the management, the security, and most of all the censorship. fuck that place.

I think it's just the Disney owned ones in Orlando and Anaheim that are like that.

I have never had issue with security at any show....can't understand what the big deal is. Ya load up...ya party...

kicking people out for moshing or crowd surfing or taking a picture = fucking lame.
house of blues, at least the one here is notorious for this.

Posted: Fri Sep 04, 2009 7:53 pm
by buck satan
some bands don't want you taking pictures, as far as moshing and crowd surfing, that's up to the venue

Posted: Fri Sep 04, 2009 7:57 pm
by Lumber Jack Off
no, it's a blanket rule there. I've seen some bands more than once on a tour before (not hard to do in florida). at one venie they allowed it but not at HoB? yeah, that's the venue's policy.

anyways, I haven't been back there since 2005 and don't plan to go back since they've basically stopped booking metal bands for the most part.

I saw Gwar at the HOB last year and they allowed cameras and taking pictures. It's the only time I can remember that there.

I go to a show, have some drinks and watch the show. I'm getting too old to mosh and pick my spots when I do. If anything, I end up making small talk with the security.

Posted: Fri Sep 04, 2009 9:34 pm
by Lumber Jack Off
that is true, but I still get pissed when I see other people getting kicked out for no reason. for a lot of places, that gets you a bad rep and a lot of times people stop going to shows for a while at said place until management changes or the acknowledge a change in policy. unfortunately for a place like house of blues, which is a corporation, it doesn't really affect them enough for them to care. meh.

When you think about it, mosh pits are just one big cheapshot fest. I can go in there and blindside some kid and put him on the floor but I know someone is going to do the same thing to me. That ain't fun.

Not a cocktail guy, but beers are reasonable...yeah, average. If you want to drink just enough to still enjoy the show, $40/person should be plenty - well, depending on your tolerance.

Easily. That's the minimum I will spend. Prolly more like $60 since I won't have to drive. :pimp:

The most I've spent was around $15 including tips. That was only because the club was 5 minutes away from where I live and I started a tab instead of paying in cash like I usually do.

So like, two drinks? Or does the U.S. dollar go extremely far in your country?

Fairly certain I had one or two jack and cokes and a beer or two.

$5 is almost unheard-of cheap for a beer.

At a show? $4-5 is pretty much the floor, and that's if you're willing to drink shit like Bud.

This is the main reason I don't drink much, if any, when I go out. I don't pay more than $3 for a beer which means I don't drink at all at the HOB.

there are plenty of places where I pay $2-$3 for a beer (good stuff like st pauli girl or yuengling.) so it's not unheard of. some places are just such a fucking rip off.
