my elbow hurts when i pick really fast, how can i stop this from happening?

how do I do that? when i hold the pick i pretty much make a fist because it's too uncomfortable to hold any other way. I can play half way decent I guess, I'm a bass player so I'm not used to holding picks. i can hit mean pinch harmonics and can play a good portion of Schematics by dying fetus but my elbow feels like it's gonna pop or some shit.Muffin wrote:pick with your wrist

Practice slow and build your speed up so that you can play fast without any tension. Otherwise you're asking for tendonitis

unlearn using your arm and make it an exclusive wrist movement for picking. because more distance= more effort, and time it takes to pick. keep your palm lightly rested on the bridge when not palm muting, and of course, lightly rested on the strings when palm muting.hektik wrote:how do I do that? when i hold the pick i pretty much make a fist because it's too uncomfortable to hold any other way. Good advise. I use to play the opposite of this and my elbow would kill me after playing many 16th notes. Using your elbow is a common mistake. The one thing I can say about myself is that I am a really fast picker. Its all in the wrist man. Your elbow really shouldnt move at all.
