worst live bands that you've seen

besides locals, of course.

for me, it would have to have been Manowar in 2005. I went to see Rhapsody, who opened, and they owned. I stayed for Manowar hoping they would maybe live up to the hype. about half way through their set of extreme homosexuality, ridiculous stage poses, sub-par playing and an even worse fan base, I decided to leave, as did half of the crowd. this fucking concert was $35 (for a fucking 600 person club show) - a large majority of the crowd was there to see Rhapsody, and they delivered the goods. had they headlined, I would have gladly payed even more to see them. but after witnessing the travesty that was Manowar, I wanted my money back.

another band I had the displeasure of seeing was Otep, who were playing at an outdoor metalfest in Tampa. you want to talk about suck? these guys could barely play their instruments (how the fuck are they popular) and the chick singer isn't even hot. her atrocious voice made me want to shove a screw driver into both of my ears just to make it stop. there was nowhere to hide at the fest, everywhere you went you could still hear this terrible band loud and clear. it was pure agony.

how about you? who was the worst band(s) you've ever had the displeasure of seeing.

Deftones, although i love their albums they have sucked every time i've seen them live.

I agree with Otep, they were horrible. Chimaira was also one of the worst shows ive ever seen.

slayer just gets old after 45 mins...it all just blends together until the closing song. morbid angel was pretty weak....and sadly the last time i seen testament it wasn't really working for me.

Lordi. I saw them at Ozzfest when it was free. I mildly enjoyed their studio music. Considering since they won the Eurovision rock contest and wore ridiculous outfits I thought they would at least be good. THEY FUCKING BLEW. The sound was horrible and couldn't even get the crowd into it not even with their most popular song.

No, we had "bands who were the biggest letdown in a live setting". Totally different. AND it was in another forum altogether.

NO, not even close. I was hoping for that when I saw them. They most bland live performance ever. The didn't do anything different than a shoegaze band would do, except some pyro.

I just remembered the one time I have seen Testament they came off as very dry. I know they are a good band but live it didn't work. I think this was only because it was in an amphitheater, it was the Metal masters tour where they played like 4 songs and opened for Judas Priest, heaven and Hell, and Motörhead. Judas Priest was A M Z I N G though.

testament are meant to be seen in a club or theater.

I can see why they would come off like that in a huge venue, especially when a large part of the crowd probably wasn't even into them.

 I spelled "amazing" wrong.

I know why they came off wrong, LJO, I think you hit it right on the head. I wanted to see Testament, but the performance was just dry and sounded bad. Most of the crow were there to see the other 3 for sure.

I really enjoyed Testament live even though I knew none of the songs.

I got to see them 3rd row at DTE. The crowd sucked. They do need to be in clubs.
