Guitar is in!

Post by JesseJames »

Guitar came in today. Just giving some sound clips off of it. Not too great, but you get a general idea.

What did you record it through? An mp3 is never really going to do justice to the subtleties of an instruments tone.

Just the guitar through a line 6 pod xpress, straight into the mic input jack of the soundcard.

For PABassPlayer, he asked for some more detailed shots of the inlays.

first 2 notes of the DBS file had me thinking it'd be Devil's Child by Priest. in which case you'd take over as pbb overloard.

They look awesome!

You'll have to let me know how they wear, seems 2 dissimilar woods might wear differently and cause the edges to seperate. Probably not...but still curious.

No amp, that was a direct line into the sound card from the pod. But if you didn't mean that, then I play out of a cheap b-52 100w amp with a crate 4x12 half stack

If you have enough money to get a custom guitar made, sell that stuff and buy a Mesa Nomad or something

I've never taken much stock in an amp actually. I've had some expensive ones, and they just don't warrant the extra cost to me. Shit sounds too close to me to be that far apart in price.

Why spend the money on something you're going to sit at home playing cover songs with?

Do you have a band or what
Wait a second, haven't you shelled out hundreds of dollars on guitar hero?

I don't play drums in a band but I paid $4,000 for a drumset. Can you put a price on enjoyment?

Motorhead is just trying to start shit, not making sense as usual. I paid that much because I enjoy playing guitar you dumbass. It cost me no more than a PRS typically runs me yet if I posted one of my PRS' you wouldn't ask me why I paid that much for it.

If I had the cash, I would buy all the dream guitars and amps I want. Stop stirring shit up Motorhead because Mom and Dad didn't give you any attention today.

The guitar is actually very loud acoustically, has great resonance and sustain as well. I credit it to the wood and the pickups. Seymour Duncans rule.
Thanks though!

JJ, for what you paid for it, I would definately be bitching about the points I have made in this pic. Top cut to the neck is not smooth and the binding appears to be either lifting or uneven in a few places. If I were you, that shit would be sent right back to be repaired.

I saw that too, but it's so minute I really dont care, Every PRS or gibson I've ever owned has also had minute imperfections like that, for some reason especially on the binding, so im not that upset about it.

Hey, it's your gear, but the luthier should be ashamed thinking that is acceptable. You know he saw it, it wouldn't have taken much to make it right. He was either A) LAZY or B) Didn't care.

To me that just tells me he doesn't take pride in his work.
