I'm looking to spend around $500. Want something mostly for metal. I was thinking about checking out the Line 6 spider, but i read reviews that they are horrible.

peavey triple xxx sounds sweet as hell but ya wont find one for 500 bucks

for cheap i would get this

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... sku=480731

i think behringer equipment is very underated

now 259 bucks for that amp is good. Im thinking of buying it myself.

heres a metal demo of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRqE1L-ZFf4

sounds good for a 260 dollar amp.

iv been using the vamp2 for about 6-7 years and i still really like it. (that amp pretty much has a vamp built into it)

another metal demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXrOH4RjE78

behringer is still trash. if you want quality you have to pay for it. i'm also not endorsing spending 2.5k on an orange combo or whatever their insane prices are this week

how many behringer products have you owned? im not trying to start shit im just saying that out of the two behringer products i own i have never had any issues with them and they were priced much better then their competitors.

Mind you if i was playing shows i would invest in something other then behringer, but for being just a hobbyist like myself it does me fine.

a 400w bass head, 4x10 bass cab, 1x15 bass cab and my friends band has a P.A. the head is shot, the two cabs have something beyond my knowledge wrong with them (speakers are shot, and the connections are shot, but even with other speakers/connectors it still doesnt work), and the 1x15 is broken as well. i even gave it to my friend who is an electrician to look at and he has no idea whats wrong. The P.A. is the only thing that works, but sounds horrible. (i guess its good for metal vocals) I've even traded in every piece of the bass stack in for brand new stuff and it still broke within 2-3 jams.

for a hobby-ist i'm sure a behringer combo or the like is fine, but i wouldnt even compare it to brands like orange, vox, marshall etc etc

i don't know what you're looking for, but it took me a long time to find a tone i was happy with. and because i play lots of different styles i end up changing my settings almost daily. if you play metal, the crunch that you get out of the amp will change depending on how loud the amp is. i know this might seem obvious but with the valveking it seemed particularly evident. the louder you go, the crisper the crunch.

$599+tax
he woulnt go any lower since it was already 200 off the regular price

im actually elegible to get a status card. we traced back in our family tree, and my great great great great (you get the point) grandfather was native. My uncle sent away for it and got one. So my dad did, and he never heard back. When he called up a number, it was no longer in service so he just left it at that.

im just going for a metal sound. more specifically, just regular shit like metallica. whats your opinion on the texture setting? do you just leave yours full blast?

i have it set to about 7 o clock. i also found that even if you have a really basic 'metal' set-up on the eq (high gain / bass / treble, low mids) the presence and resonance settings can be employed to drastically alter the kind of tone you want. fucking with those alone will give you plenty of options.

He really hates those people who trace back generations. He calls them Tonto Lesveque's

But he is cool with buying me shit, it's not like i do it all the time. i get the ocasional electronic purchase or guitar.
he actually offered and obviously im not going to refuse.
