I dunno, man, I owned a Metal Zone for a long ass time, and it was a BEAST through my old 1972 Marshall 100W SuperLead, and my buddy's 80's-something Laney 50W AOR head (he's had that thing for like 22 years now...)

it all depends on what you set it at and the amp you use, it sounds great hrough OLD tube heads, but on anything built since the mid 90's, it kinda does sound real thin...

I guess I'm surprised that pedal sounds like shit because I can't say enough about the sonic maximizer. Shit rules. Also the rat I bought on a whim when my other pedal died, and didn't like it that much at first. After I dialed it in though,

Thanks for showing me that site, I'd tried to find it forever. I "have" a metal zone that I let a friend borrow, that I haven't seen since 2006. I don't hold high hopes I'll ever get it back, but if I do, I'm gonna mod it.

I have Keeley Boss mod Bass Overdrive and Chorus pedals, crystal clear with both my Genz Benz and SWR amps. The "true bypass" is by far the best of all mod pedals out there.
