Recommend me something in the 800-1,600 price range that's good for tech-death metal shit. I already have a Jackson and an SG so i was looking for something different, like an Ibanez, but i can't find anything that doesn't have a floyd.

Check out Spector's guitar series. I don't know how they sound, but I know they make superior quality basses that are great for metal! I know, I own one. their guitars look sexy but I have no clue how they play, but look into them.

I've never played a Carvin but I was looking at their basses, and I know they make some quality basses for shredding and tech-death. So I'm assuming their guitars are probably around the same quality. Their basses have a nice lovely growling tone for their lows, the mid range is excellant, very loud and clear, and the highs could be molded to however you wanted. I almost bought one, but went with Spector instead.

A buddy of mine had a 7 string custom built from Carvin. I haven't played it, but I've heard from everyone who has that it's one sweet fucking guitar.
And it's definitely a beautiful fucking guitar.

Just buy that one and break one of the strings.

You can get a custom Carvin with 6 or 7 strings in just about any finish you want.
