Best/Worst Sounding Guitar You've Ever Played?

I would have to say the two that really stand out in my mind as number one are the old PRS Custom 24 I used to have, and a PRS Tremonti (not the se, the real one)
And I am not even that huge on PRS, those just happen to be the best I have ever played.
I would have to say one of the worst ones I ever played was a Carvin 7 string. Felt like cardboard and sounded about the same.

Why must you be cruel to my tastes
Best guitar? The original 59 Les Paul one of the associates my boss is friends with brought up to work.
Worst guitar? The BC Rich bronze Warlock my friend had (and that got me into guitar) or some of the newer made Gibsons (not custom shop), the fretwork and electronic wiring looks like some guy just turned on a solder gun and put on a blindfold and went to work. Hell they make some Japanese guitars look like great luthers work on them

Why don't you?
But seriously, the thing plays like a log and sounds one-dimensional. A close second is a Stingray.

Every time I see some kid onstage with a Stingray I always want to kick him in the throat. Almost every time they scoop the mids out and slap even though the music they are playing calls for neither.

Best- Charvel... i wish i could think of the model right now.
Worst- Ibanez- RG 270 i believe. Overall sound and fit sucked. My fretting hand cramped up in two minutes tops every time i played it... I hate jumbo frets.

If it was loaded with EMG's, then it went to the bottom of the barrel.

I played a pretty crappy sounding Dean(edit) Razorback at GC this past Saturday. They play kinda nice but compared to a real guitar, it lacks balls.

what would you suggest to an up and coming bass player just going out for local gigs and jamz?
give me an amp, pedal and bass you would suggest with a low price budget
go go go

Best: My Jackson USA PC1 and Fender Showmaster Custom shop
Worst: The cheap HSS Squier strat jam pack I bought my nephew for Christmas.
I promised him if he learns to jam on it a bit I would hook him up with a quality rig, but he aint playin the fucker.

An Ibanez bass. The Soundgear models are excellent for beginners (thinner necks) and they sound nice and snappy. I'd go with a Peavey amp, just a combo of some sort. I used a TKO115 as a workhorse forever (and still do for lower-key gigs).
As for the pedal, just drop $75 on a Boss GEB-7 Graphic EQ. That's my secret weapon. The combination of those three should let you handle most any gigging situation or style of music at least modestly.

Floyd have you ever tried the Ibanes ATK basses? They are supposed to be a more affordable and better in some ways bass than the MusicMan. I know the five string is supposed to be ten times better than the MusicMan just because the low B string does not feel like it is the tip of the neck.

I haven't played any Ibanez's since I already have one and make it a personal rule not to have more than one bass from a given company. My five-string still sounds good though.

I liked the feel of the Ibanez G10 I played, but I didn't really play it for more than a few minutes to get a good guage of its sound. Plus, I was plugged into a very shitty amplifier at the time.

Yeah, they're pretty fucking steep becasue they're custom built (although apparently a production line is coming). The guy in my band had lessons from Pin, I think the guitar is one of his old ones, too.

one of the worst guitars Ive played is one of the newer Gibson sg's that were made, the fretboard was so bad, and really stiff.
also what shocked me is when I went to my local music shop to try out a dime o flame, it sounded so bad! but it was probably just a one off, because I hear people say they sound amazing. but it was definatly the guitar.
