and there's alot of stuff online that's very useful. i know of a few websites.. i think guitartricks.com features guthrie govan.. so you know it's good!! but i dont know, i get alot of my practice and techniques from song now a days.. or really advanced licks from some shred site.

Gilbert and Friedman are good teachers. Their lessons are very practical compared to the other guys who just play scales and call it an instructional video. i can look up scales in a book for christ's sake.

Friedman playing scales and its called a lesson/instructional video. Its cool because he made up the scales. But now thinking about it, a video about scales and calling it a instructional video isn't a great accomplishment.

Man, there are TONS of lessons on YouTube from Gilbert to Joe Schmoe. You could spend weeks watching all of them.

nah son. i've watched several cool friedman videos where he talked about using tones from other keys in solos. gilbert and friedman play scales in their videos, but they show how to apply the theory as well.

i think the guys in Shadows Fall are cool. i like their riffs and solos, but i've never even thought about their technique before. so i wouldn't take lessons from them. the drummer is the best musician in that band.
