BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE has cancelled its previously announced appearance at this year's Wacken Open Air festival because one of the bandmembers is scheduled to undergo an operation in August. Meanwhile, AS I LAY DYING have pulled out of the event due to scheduling conflicts related to their appearance on the Vans Warped Tour in the U.S. Finally, TYPE O NEGATIVE has just been confirmed for the festival, which is set to take place August 2-4, 2007 in Wacken, Germany.

Wacken is a good trip abroad. A lot of the music is questionable but the atmosphere, drink and especially the food is amazing. The steak burgers really are amazing. I imagine a lot of the other Euro summer festivals are greater though. If sleeping in a tent and travelling on a coach for hundreds of miles didn't suck then I'd do it again. Hot scandavian ladies are a plus point when lamer bands are on.

Of course I don't like all the bands who are playing, but quite a few of them (a good dozen or more) I enjoy and I also enjoy keeping my musical horizons open. Try it sometime.

You probably would enjoy alot of the bands on that list. But I guess you reckon yer just to fucking "metal" eh.

I reckon this year will be the last for me. I was really looking forward to seeing Vader, but they've canceled. I'll still enjoy alot of the bands though, but the main reason I'm going this year is it's my mates 21st while we're there and we get to meet up with our usual buds there for one last time at wacken - As unless some really good bands come back next year I dunno if I can be bothered with how publicised and expensive it's becoming. Too many wee kids and arseholes showing up really.

Want to check out some smaller festivals through Europe next year.

This year will be the third time we have driven there. Just get in your car, get the ferry from Harwich to Amsterdam (pick up weed), then onwards to Hamburg all in the comfort and convenience of a car. It makes the trip 10 time's more enjoyable than getting on a coach or plane. I flew over in 03 and was tired as fuck from lugging around a heavy bag and walking everywhere.

And yes, you really do go to Wacken for the atmosphere as much as the bands. It's unparalled really. Compared to the Clear Channel bollocks rip off festivals in england, Wacken is heaven.
