GWAR, Chimaira Lead - Sounds Of The Underground Tour

Billboard.com reports: The third edition of the Sounds of the Underground tour will feature performances by GWAR, CHIMAIRA, EVERY TIME I DIE, NECRO and JOB FOR A COWBOY, among others.

The 25-city North American trek starts July 6 at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas and wraps Aug. 8 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver.

Confirmed acts include:

GWAR
SHADOWS FALL
CHIMAIRA
EVERY TIME I DIE
NECRO
AMON AMARTH
GOATWHORE
JOB FOR A COWBOY
DARKEST HOUR
THE ACACIA STRAIN
HEAVY HEAVY LOW LOW
THE NUMBER TWELVE LOOKS LIKE YOU
DEVIL WEARS PRADA

GWAR is scheduled to headline on most nights, and additional as-yet-unannounced guest headliners will join the bill on select dates. THIS IS HELL and 2 CENTS will split the tour in half as opening acts.

“There are a few bands that have been on the tour before and a bunch of newcomers,” The Agency Group’s Tim Borrow tells Billboard.com. And as opposed to other heavy metal summer tour packages, SOTU is “trying to be the niche, off-the-radar, less commercialized type of tour,” he says.

The Live Nation-produced summer jaunt is visiting 2,000-to 5,000-seat venues, including large ballrooms, cut-down arenas, convention centers and outdoor stage setups. Borrow says this year’s SOTU is hitting smaller venues than it has in the past. “The last couple of years we’ve done this big parking lot-esque type of tour,” he explains. “We’re going to try and have a more controlled atmosphere that’s a lot less expensive to produce.”

Ticket presales begin April 25 at a price of under $30, according to Borrow.

Hot Topic is the presenting sponsor of this year’s SOTU. In late June, the retail chain will carry an exclusive CD/DVD compilation of the summer trek.

I saw this tour in Sayreville,NJ in my opinion the best band was probably Testament, the worst by far was All That Remains, I predict somehow they will eventually fail in the business.
