Notice the settings go right along with scrotal_tugs pics!! this is from guitar shop magazine march 99. But notice in the article darrell states he uses something called the "dd-3" gain shaping distortion pedal but to my knowledge the dd-3 is a boss digital delay pedal. I personally owned a randall rg-100 and over half of darrells rig at one time and never got close to the gain he had. This pic of the rackmount randall amps might just solve the dimebag tone equation. Would like to hear u guys thoughts on this.. [/img]

well, that MXR blue box eq was a serious gain booster as well as a tone shaper, i used to have one and an RG100, i know it works! but his other secret is the Furman parametric EQ he used, also...both of those items really hot-roded the signal into the distorted RG100s AND Century 200's he had back in the day...

Yeah the mxr eq, and the pq4/3 are the shit for the Randall distortion, i have a Randall RH100 and a Century C170 II, by itself each one has a very sterile distortion, but when you connect the gain boxes wow, amazing! i mean, you can get very very close to the Dime sound (live sound)

although i have my doubts about him adding a distortion pedal to his rig...

I've never played a C170 II, but i know you really don't need any extra gain on the RH models, but shaping never hurts, i bought an MXR KFK 10 band EQ pedal just for that...

i meant equalizers with gain boxes, they add much more gain to the Randall gain, but keeping the original sharp tone

i use a similair setup to that, except i run it through a boss mega distortion with the tone increased a little, distortion full and no gain boost

Anyone got any info on his cowboys from hell setup, he always managed to get a sweet bluesy sound on stuff like the psycho holiday solo
