Need some help

do any of you guys know some good luthier schools in the US? i've been looking around memphis but don't really want to live there. any info is welcome 
Seems to me that all the best-known luthiers were educated in some other aspect of things, like electronics or woodworking, and apprenticed under someone else.
Maybe you should be looking for someone to study under rather than an institution.
