When Pantera was at its best? Say your opinion, what do YOU think.
And not about popular, but about music.
I`d say definitely 1990-1994. Trendkill and especially that Reinventing The Meek sucked.

even though Trendkill is a killer album you cant beat FBD or VDP

Actually, this excludes FBD. Before '94, after '94. So we are clearly choosing CFH and VDOP or TK and RTS. So yeah, after, because CFH sucked.

i dunno about that man....cowboys is one of my least favorites (only trendkill is below it) but i would never go as far as to say its boring thats just ridiculous

Yeah, it's just opinion. I can't listen to it. I could have about 3-4 years ago, but now I have the typical 16 year old "Gotta find the heaviest shit possible" syndrome.

1990-1994 PanterA were the best live band in the world. You only have to watch the brixton academy vid from 94 to realise that. Trendkill is still their best album musically but live during the aforementioned era they were unstoppable.

Ya can hear the hunger in the earlier albums.
CFH, ground breaking music right there man.
VDOP, well, same really but taking it to another level with heaviness and direction. Just a brutal assault for the ears @ that time. I remember hearing Mouth For War @ a club in Melbourne for the 1st time and was gob smacked 110%. Didn't realise it was Pantera until asking DJ.

You fuckers should work for blabbermouth.com! All that valuable input, you might just get popular like they did and be mistaken for real journalism.

what the fuck they have always been good and trendkill and reventing the stell were fucking awsome around that time music was fucked up and to hear trendkill the most under rated album it set the heavy metal industry straight

I think all the Pantera albums is awesome.. but if I had to pick my favorites it would probably be CFH, VDOP and FBD.. So that would be the 90-94' period..
Anyway, I would be happy just to see them play anything.. never got to tho.. which is a shame. They've only been in Norway once i think in 94' and I was too young then

My Brother i must say, Far beyond Driven, it's release in 1994 was the hallmark , center, eye in the storm of brilliance that was this band, I believe when this album was released it marked the pinnacle of 1990's heavy metal.
You have Pantera before FbD and after (this album).
if the question is, would i take. ...
Cowboys from Hell, and Vulgar
or
Trendkill and Rts?
with Driven being the centerpiece that separates the two?
I'm going with fucking The Great Southern Trendkill (1996) and Reinventing the Steel (2000) over cowboys from hell (1990) and Vulgar Display of power. 1992.
yeah I said it.
it had to be said.
and peep game.
you wanna know why I prefer those two albums over them two previous ones of a Bush-era (not Clinton-era) musical past?
because!
more. fucking. wisdom.
more progression.
more coheshion, tighter rhythms.
VUGLAR and COWBOYS were fucking tight alright but RTS and TGSTK hit harder for me because, well, let's face it, the band was fully in sync and comfortable playing with one another (Anselmo being the "new guy", if you may, prior to Glaze)
i feel like once Philip helped the rest of those guys reach #1 on the Billboard charts by being the spokesperson and handling the press, (and commanding a lot of the fans)
they felt much more comfortable playing with him and were more open to his musical ideas, hence the Grammy-nominated
Suicide Note Part 1
and the brilliance of Revolution is My Name
both a which came out _AFTER_ ...
not BEFORE
nine Teen Nine9 Tee. 4.
1994.
