Who knows (I mean REALLY knows) about gear?

Since I'm a fucking noob, I don't know who the other gearheads on this board are. What I'm trying to do is establish who really knows their shit so advice can be given & verified correctly w/ a minimum of bullshit & wrong answers.

I've learned my lesson about rating myself too highly, so I'll just say I know lots about gear but would ALWAYS like to learn more. I've modded my own effects but never done an amp. I do repairs on all my own instruments (just about to start my first re-fret), and I've maintained & worked on guitars, basses, drums, and PA gear in every band I've been in or worked with since I started playing music 18 years ago. I've read Dan Erelwine's Guitar Player Repair Guide & I'm getting my luthier's tools together to soon undertake the making of an acoustic bass. Anybody else here built their own instrument?

Let's try to keep this one at least halfway civil...

Thanks.

AoD made his own guitar. He rarely posts anymore, though.

I know a fair amount. The most extensive work I've done is defretted, filled in and refinished a Fender P making it a fretless.

I have done alot of rewiring and electronic repairs, but I am no luthier.

one of my very good friends is a builder.
you can see some of his work at http://www.jonezguitarz.com

At first look I saw the wolf guitar and I thought "gay!"

But that snake on that one guitar almost looks like a real snake was stuffed and stapled onto a guitar.

The picture of AoD screaming into the mic = best thing ever.

I made my own bass once:

But, in all seriousness, I'm about in the middle of the road. I have never actually made anything because I'm terribly good with electronics, but I know a lot of other shit.
