3. Kirk Hammet (of Metallica \,,/), mindraping technique with the coolest solos, for instance Metallica - Orion

Chuck Schuldiner: I love the way he writes music and his style.
Darrell Abbott: Fucking intense style which I really love, he did strange things which weren't all to present at the time which makes him unique, also he's a big influence to me I believe.

I agree with Shawn Lane being great.. but does he have any famous songs/solos? the only thing I know about him is he had a swedish bassist named Jonas Hellborg

do they need to be famous to be great? No. Kirk Hammet by fact has poor tecnique. I'm not making this up, it's just what is obvious. Take a look at any recent video of him playin solos, and dont tell me you dont vomit in your mouth when you hear that. Now Shawn Lane: flawless genius. Dont even get me started on his pentatonic phrasing, pure genius. If you're into that, well to each his own. I myself dont admire mediocrity.

it really wasnt a lecture. i've gotten into them since you posted that song. they're a cool band, and jason becker's disease is interesting.
The Speed Metal Symphony album is mostly Marty Friedman as it was more or less wrote by him. For Beckers signature sound listen to Perpetual Burn.
