Sweeping Mids...

Someone told me that Dime ran a 6 band EQ pre EFX loop, then a parametric EQ post EFX loop, and sweeped his mids using the parametric...Can anyone explain this process? Why wouldnt he cut his mids using the 6 band, or the AMPs eq settings? Just a little confused...

Where you put something in the signal chain changes the way it effects & affects the sound. Typically, from the input of an amp, you'll go thru the pre-amp stage(s) and then the effects loop happens before the EQ section of the amp. Sometimes I've inserted EQ pre-effects loop to really slam the shit out everything else further down the chain and then cut out the frequencies I wanted to cut after I'd achieved the "balls" factor I was looking for. It all comes down to this: You can cause & control distortion anywhere in the signal chain, and it sounds different in every place that you try. Certain combos will sound better to you or work better for certain things, so just keep fucking with it until you hear what you want.
If you want a breakdown of what the different types of eq are and how they work (and how they can be used most effectively), let me know & I'll hook you up.

Thanks, man. I appreciate that. Unless you're being sarcastic. I can't really tell sometimes on these posts what w/ all the smartass fuckers on here, such as PABassPlayer & that idiot w/ the miami heat logo on his posts.
Have you got anything I can hear of your playing?

I was being serious. Those songs are refreshingly uninfluenced by mainstream while still having a nice groove. Click on my www below to head over to my page. The songs aren't the best but it's all I have to show right now.

Learntofuckintype.
To clarify, these songs are examples of my bass playing and production/engineering only. I didn't play anything else on these recordings.
Whatever, man. Let's move on. I'm sure there will be something else for us to fight about soon enough, PA.

Yeah, it's me on bass & production. Did that whole thing in an apartment in Boston on an 8-track Tascam. No digital editing at all.
Just to clarify a few other things here:
1. Yes, I'm old. If you consider 29 old (which I do).
2. I'm sure if you think/say you are better than me, than you are. Good for you. Now give me some money.
3. I'm also quite sure I've forgotten more about music & production than many if not most musicians & producers will ever know.
4. Opinions are like assholes, because everyone has one & they all stink. Thank you to those of you who said you like my tunes. Thanks to PABassPlayer for the dialogue. And, thanks to the rest of you trash talkin' jackasses for the amusement. This could be the start of something grand...
5. Choosing to talk trash instead of offering useful critique is a sign of weakness & idiocy.
6. So is getting offended by trash talk.
7. So are old guys who have no talent & argue on Pantera msg boards!
