but I don't know anything about vocal equipment at all or anything I'd possibly need. Can someone help me out? I want something that's loud and can handle insanely high screams and lows so low that it'll make your grandmother's pussy skin straighten out.

thanks

Just get a couple of mains and a powered mixer. Problem solved. You can get a decent one for under a grand.

so this might be a dumb question...my band doesn't have a PA yet but I have PA speakers that I got in a cool deal from musiciansfriend a while back. Is it possible to use the "speaker out" jack from a guitar combo amp to a PA speaker and use that temporarily for vocals? Nothing should blow out or anything right?

You'd have to make sure that impedance matched for one thing. I doubt, however, that the combo has enough output wattage to really drive the speakers that well. It probably wouldn't be loud enough.
