Throwdown has the Pantera sound down-pat. Proving that their signature sound wasn't what made them good. It's in the ingredients, not the recipe.

I don't want another Pantera.
Pantera was and still is a unique band with music like no other. The idea that someone else could form a band with the idea of sounding like Pantera. Avenged Sevenfold are more melodic than Pantera, but seem to be making an effort to sound like them. Unfortunately for the poor AX7 lads, their music sucks pretty fuckin' hard.
No-one comes close to Pantera in the metal world, and that's a good thing. It means people are pushing for new unchartered music, as opposed to recycling other people's stuff.

i don't know anything about them other than having seen them live at a Fest and they sounded like a shitty Pantera ripoff.
last time i heard about Sir Mixalot he was collaborating with the Presidents Of The United States of America.

That band tries to copy Down's sound 100% only they aren't good enough. The singer even tries to be a carbon copy of Phil's down singing style.

I saw the preview for this thing in the theatres. Is this a comedy? 'Cause I can't possibly think Samuel Jackson acted seriously for this shit. It looks like a joke.
The trailer for it leaked like a year ago where it became a joke. The movie was actually made to be serious. That's how the very first trailer portrayed it as. But everyone thought it was the most retarded shit ever so now they're trying to market it as this "soon to be cult classic".
I'm seeing it opening night...

The only 2 bands that came close were in the 90's:
Souls At Zero
and Skid Row's Subhuman Race album.

Nothing sounds like Pantera, but there are maybe one or two bands that hold some influence. There's a good band from New Orleans...Soilent Green. Check them out. Good vocals, guitar of course isn't anything near Dime, but they've been around since about '88.

I like bands that are so cool they have to face away from the audience. I wonder if that vocalist has ever heard of "tempo".
