who's gonna tell me about this thing, is it any good? reliable? for those that dont know (but im sure you all do), it hooks into your floyd rose and lets you switch from E to drop D on the low E string and back, by a flick of the switch

ive used it, its good for what it says it does, if you gotta switch back and forth a lot it is a hell of a lot quicker than retuning or swapping axes.

they changed the name of the tuner. you flip the switch and it drops to a d.

seems pretty cool, but it only takes 10 seconds to tune back and forth from standard to drop, doing it by ear.

im saying to use that you have to loosen the locking nut which defeats the purpose

i'll probably end up getting the d-tuna

get a Steinberger Trans-trem and drop the whole thing down a half or full step.

Eddie V used one on a few albums, Summer Nights is impossible to cover without one.

he switches from standard tuning to flat tuning about 10 times in the song.
you could do it with 2 guitarists, but they better be right on the money in the changes. He did it live with that particular guitar. My guiatrist owned one (works at a music store) and bought it for 1200.00, he flipped it for 1700.00 and thought he made out like a bandit. They are rare now and hard to find for less than 5-6000.00.

For a bit of other info, this is at the top of most tabs you find for the song.

I saw a request for this song a while ago. I wasn't gonna do it
'cause I thought it was a completely impractical song to wanna know how to
play (kinda like NIN's "Closer" or something like that) for the simple fact
that without a very SPECIFIC kind of guitar, the song is unplayable!
Eddie uses a Steinberger on this one. For those of you that don't know,
Steinbergers are those $1900 suckers that look like little boxes with a
guitar neck comin' out of them. Steinberger also is the only company
(that I know of) that has what's called a Trans-Trem vibrato system. This
allows the guitarist to pull up or push down on the trem bar and lock it
into place so that the pitch of the strings remain in tune, but are
TRANSposed to a different tuning. A wonderful invention if you ask me.
No more tuning down 1/2 step or anything like that. This system ALSO
does other cool stuff: By magic, it keeps all of the strings IN TUNE when
you pull up or push down on the bar. Like, you could strum an A chord
and pull up on the bar and make it sound like a C chord. For an example
of this gadget at work, try listening to "Get Up" from Van Halen 5150.
Eddie isn't sliding his fingers, he's pulling up on the fuckin' bar! And
then for the solo, he locks it into place a few half-steps up!
Anyway, the only reason I decided to tab this song is 'cause I figured if
you had a capo that was easily and quickly removed, you COULD concievably
play this song accurately. So whip out them capos kiddies, and put 'em
across the 3rd fret...

 Wow. I'd sometime like to play that song, as i'm a big Van Halen fan and all... But i don't plan on paying a grand for a Steinberger any time soon.

Steinbergers look like they do have some cool benefits though.
It would be nice to have one for traveling, maybe bring along a korg pandora or something to amplify it with.

I see, they have re-released the trans-trem.
I was not aware of that. For years they were very hard to find.
They really fucked up the collectors market! lol
