I'm thinking of getting a distortion pedal, so I want to know what everyone thinks about this one. Post some comments on this pedal please.

The only boss distortion worth owning for metal is the metalizer which i own, and they stopped making it in the late 80s so hard lines .

Somehow I don't think this guy is building a live rig

Why not? All you REALLY need to play live is a decent combo and the distortion pedal of your choice, maybe an eq. I wasnt expecting him to be selling out arenas dumbass, but you start in the pub scene and work your way up, and to get noticed you cant sound like every other guitarist in the world ever.

i've played both, the metalzone is better. more options to mess with

That's right, a good tube amp kicks ass, but why don't u try line 6 uber metal? That's actually good stuff, when it comes to distortion...great tone, grat sustain and you can have a sharp, choppy sound.
but, it really depends on how you wanna sound like...
A digitech Death Metal can be a cheap, but not-so-crappy choice...
Get a krankestein if u wanna sound like dime...I bet he never used the mxr dd...

Metal zone sucks man i dont know whats wrong with your ears...
Also, Boss DS-1 is imho much better than DS-2... its cheaper, and the sound is warmer and not so artifficial... DS-2 sounds plastic and crappy... and if DS-1 is too weak for you, you can allways mix it with your amp distortion...
anyway, if you dont have enough cash for eq/head/amp/pedal/compression/noise reductor/whatever you want combo, get some cash and buy some decent pedal, like marshall shredmaster, or something like maxtone overdrive or whatever... And if youre totally out of cash, go with boss DS-1...
actually, go to the store, bring your guitar with you, and try it all out and buy what you like...

I don't doubt that the Uber Metal fucking rules. Line 6 gear pretty much rules. I have a 2 Pod XTs, an XT Live for gigs/rehearsal and the regular XT next to my computer for recording. Scrotal_Tug uses the XT Pro and has some fucking bad ass tone. You can hear some of his recent stuff at
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemus ... ndID=77788. If you look hard enough I'm sure you could find my music too.

Always the best advice, but people are normally too lazy or shy to actually do this.
