treated myself today to a bass and amp

i used to own a bass a few years back.. been wanting one for the last few weeks and since iv been bustin my balls workin i thought i mine aswell go buy one


anywho i got me a oscar schmidt ob40 and a peavey max 158 bass amp


i gotta get back into the groove and funk of things like trying my hardest to minimize fret buzz.. so far from jamming iv just used lots of gain to hide the buzzige.. god bass is fun

anybody own this same model of bass? i paid 480 Canadian for the bass and amp both brand new


what do ya's think? i dont need no fancy jive... damn i wanna minimize the buzzige... fuck my pizzais burning


any input on this particular bass/amp would be cool

Get it set up professionally and practice your technique if you want to get rid of fret buzz. Any guitar with lowish action will buzz if you hit it hard enough.

what he said, and find if your a finger or pick player, I prefer fingers.
You will want to set the action a bit differently if your gonna use a pick.

Too much fret buzz is generally from poor set-up or poor technique. You can't paw the thing like a freshman groping some slut behind the bleachers.

fool around with the action, if that doesn't work you may need a slight truss rod adjustment

thanks guys i fixed it myself.. adjusted both bridge action and truss rod also screwed the pickups nice and even.. these fuckers come set up like shit from the factory

been playin the shit out of this bass on the weekends.. been bustin out alot of fleetwood mac, testament shit


fingers sound better but my finger speed sucks compared to my pick speed

fucking yeah finger style all the way, basically dude, id say do what i did, i learn to play a slightly fiddly bass line, such as say Calinfornication, get that down to a tee, then speeed it up but do it properly so its like double triple or even four times the speed, but still accurate, then do the same with loadsa other bass lines, then go learn some funk, funk is great for playing bass, as is ska

then one day mebbe you can learn the art of slap!!!
