Sandblasted Clips (Pantera Tribute)

We played our last gig as a Pantera Tribute the other day in Manchester and we finally managed to get some footage of us filmed with a video camera, so I ripped the audio from the clips and have put them up on the web. Here are a few songs from the night:

Suicide Note Part II

Strength Beyond Strength
(Two Vocalists, It was his Birthday)

Walk
(Again, Two Vocalists)

Fucking Hostile

Dom/Hollow

HellBound
(Someone in the crowd does the Hellbound Screams)

Great Southern Trendkill - A New Level
(Two Vocalists for Great Southern)

Living Through Me

The sound quality isn't the greatest as it's just taken from a video camera mic which is wandering around the crowd etc, but it's not bad!

if you're a pantera tribute act then wouldnt it make sense to tune the same as pantera?

Well, I only have 2 guitars. One tuned to GGCFAD for Underground/Sandblasted and we figured the other should be in a half step down because some songs dont sound right a full step down, but the ones a full step down we figured we could get away with at a half step.

you guys are pretty good, you might want to invest in a digitech whammy though if you can get one cheap, it would open up alot more song possibilitys, plus part 2 sounds better with it.

I do have one, and I was using one on Suicide Note. Aswell as Strength Beyond & Hellbound. Maybe it doesn't cut through very well, but ye should be able to tell I am using one in suicide, especially with the solo.

Are you maybe using the 1 octave setting instead of 2? cos i can barely hear it.

Yeh, just one octave. 2 octave sounds far to high in the whole song.

2 octave is the correct setting for the correct tuning, c#

yeh but unless you use an extremely good tuner, like a rackmount, you're never going to get it exactly.

what made you decide to stop?

Because it's daft, basically. We started out as just a laugh, just something to jam together. We then decided to gig as a tribute... now it's boring me. We get all these places (Usually pubs and stuff) from around the UK contacting us to play and I'm always like "I can't be arsed, we're just having a laugh". I mean I love Pantera and playing their songs and it has def. helped us out... but it's time for our own stuff now.

Plus when we formed, like 4 month later Dimebag was shot - Since we'd only done like 1 gig before his death, afterwards everyone saw us as this band who were just jumping at a chance to exploit that fact. Noone ever said that but I amn't stupid.

Just seems like a good idea to quit it, we gave it a good roll and that'll do me

fair enough. There's nothing stopping you from playing the odd cover in a band with your own material anyhow. We occasionally cover power metal, mouth for war or hellbound for a laugh at gigs, its always a good surprise as the last song or whatever.

Sweet, you cover power metal :aargh: And yeh, with the new band we will still bust out the odd cover, probably Pantera :D
