Is damn near impossible when you're trying literally the minute you wake up. Your fingers and your brain are in different universes.

Well, it's probably due to the fact that you've been sleeping.

well your body was just asleep, so it takes time to wake up.
Eat, shower, make sure you're clean (paticularly your hands), run through some scales for about 15 minutes at least, and then try to play.
It takes me about at least an hour of scales, songs, practicing in general till I'm really "in the zone" per se. But after that I can nail all kinds of shit.
But the time is all relative to how complicated the stuff you're playing is gonna be. It doesn't take me an hour to warm up to power chord progressions. Takes me an hour to warm up to nailing fast 6 string sweeps cleanly.

But the most important part I think is cleanliness. If my hands are sweaty and shit from the night before, forget about it. I play like shit.
Even if I haven't taken a shower, I kinda play shitty. Anyone else experience this too?

I think this is due not to me just being asleep but the fact I just put brand new low gauge strings on last night.

if i just woke up and lying in bed doing nothing, the few times i got up to play because i had a riff in my head. i didn't have much trouble. just got the shit down, recorded it if possible and leave it
go jack off in the shower and probably come up with more shit to add to it, then go dick around somemore on guitar

yeah man, me too (kinda). I dont like to play guitar unless my hands are washed and clean. I'm really picky with my left hand contact with the neck and fretboard.
