a buddy of mine had one of these in college. i think it was a line 6 (or whatever). But it kicked ass. The digital face crap was right on the front...it was like a little computer up there. you could choose from hundreds and hundreds of sounds on the amp, program your own, tons a shit. anyway, i'm not sure what kind it was. Anyone play one? Are they considered gay (in which case I'm buying one for sure). Do they make em so you can hook em up to stomp pedals to switch from sound to sound? Who makes em? What are the best kind? I hear fender has one but it blows. I want to be able to play gigs with this thing too so it's gotta huff and puff. Please inform me. Thank you

no, they aren't gay. you're talking about huge database types of modulators which have tons of different types of amps/effects/what not. i think they're great if you play wide styles of music. and bumblefoot plays one.

I think you are talking about a Line 6 pod. I have not played one, but I have heard they are pretty good. Meshuggah use them live I think.

Line 6 have an extensive range of products with digital interfaces.
The Pod, Pod XT & Pod XT Pro are all a range with a screen on the front.
Was your friend's screen built into an amp or was it a little effects unit (shaped like a kidney bean or rack mount)?
I love line 6 stuff. Some of my friends have the Line 6 spider amps & I own the Pod XT Pro.

the shit was built into the amp. so the little red pod xt pro basically does the same shit the line 6 amps do...but you can plug it into whatever amp?
a grand for the pod xt pro though? wtf

Romeo does too, as far as I know.
I'm no guitarist, but my friend's got one (built-in) and he's pleased with it.

Pretty much.
The only amp from Line 6 I can think of with a screen built into it is the Vetta, and they're fucking expensive.
If it's just a bit of fucking about, practicing and a couple of smallish gigs, one of the spider combo's will be more than sufficiant, they have a fair amount of options, but no screen built in.. (But who cares?!)
