Meshuggah need tbc ftw.

It would be fucking amazing if they did. Put them on the 1am to 2am slot on one of the main stages. Then if they could benefit from the incredible sound that Cannibal Corpse had last year they would be one of the best things of the weekend. The low end would sound ridiculous.
I was reading through this thread for memories sake and came upon this.

Interesting fact:

I met Meshuggah after a gig they did here a couple of weeks ago and asked them why they don't play Meshuggah and they (Well, Tomas Haake) said that the reason they can't play Meshuggah is because they are only offering the 1500 euro to play on the shitty small tent, and it would cost them that just to get there. So it doesn't work out financially.

Whereas places like Hellfest are seeing they are obv headlining material at paying them proper fees of like 10,000 euro.

Shame it's about money tho

They'd get at least 3 times that to play a small - medium sized venue in Ireland or the UK, this is what happens when they waste money on shit like avenged sevenfold and killswitch engage.

That's exactly what he said actually. That for this UK tour they did most venues were paying around 3 times that to have them over. But he did say that Meshuggah have never been overly popular in Germany from what they can tell with previous record sales there and tours they've done before.

Germans at the end of the day like really cheesey, flamboyant rock more so than spine-morphing metal. So at a German festival the 'headliners' are always going to be somewhat questionable.

Sounds great :aargh: BUT! I'm going to weigh up my options between Hellfest, Graspop, Metalcamp and Wacken. I'm leaning more towards Metalcamp right now. It sounds as if it has the same atmosphere that Wacken used to have and wont burn a deep hole in my pocket.

i'm not sure what my plans are yet. hopefully i'll get into europe at some stage, and a festival would be cool but it would have to fit around my travels.

We will celebrate our heritage in a show of transatlantic unity by drinking the most expensive single malt at the Sonar bar and then lift our kilts for a little friendly contrast and compare :|): :aargh:
